How To Make An Herbal Tincture1/11/2022 Herbal medicine making to me is an extension of food prep. We take plants and turn them into medicine that rivals any prescription drug on the market. There is an herb for everything and they’ve been used since the beginning of time for healing and enriching lives. Making an herbal tincture is simple and very rewarding. Learn how just a few herbs are used to treat common ailments and you’ll eliminate the “need” for most, if not all over-the-counter meds. My family has been conventional medicine-free for about ten years except for a case of bacterial pneumonia that required antibiotics. Dry or fresh herbs can be used. Today, I made an Echinacea tincture. I use this for warding off colds or shortening duration. You can use any of your favorite herbs in a tincture, even kitchen herbs like thyme and oregano. Feminine Balance Tea1/11/2022 If you ask me what my favorite tea is, Feminine Balance would be my answer. It is amazing for hormone balancing and doubles as a fertility tea. This is based on a formula given to me a few years ago by my herbalist at the time, Sarah Powell from Lilith’s Apothecary. Using this tea, some additional tinctures and food, I was able to balance my hormones and get pregnant with my 4th baby. Since using this tea myself, I’ve been providing it to friends, family and clients with great results. If used properly and daily it really helps harmonize the body and brings balance to stressed hormones. Sometimes, this is just what is needed relax and enhance fertility. Even if you’re not trying to get pregnant, this tea is perfect for stress, bad periods, PCOS, and other hormone related symptoms. It helps nourish the body at a cellular level and really get things balanced out. Here are the herbs in Feminine Balance Tea and what they do for the body:
*Leave out lemon balm if on thyroid medication. To blend: Combine 1 cup of each herb in a large bowl and mix with a wooden spoon. Store in a quart mason jar with lid out of direct sunlight. To Brew:
For best results, make sure to drink a quart every day. It really gives you an energy boost and helps with mood levels, anxiety, balancing, nourishment and so many other wonderful things. Not to be taken during pregnancy. I highly recommend this tea to anyone suffering from hormone imbalances, fertility issues, stress, painful periods or abnormal PMS symptoms. Winter Chai1/11/2022 As much as I don’t want to admit it, winter is almost here! Tea is crucial to my staying warm protocol and chai is a wonderful treat to end any cold night with! Chai also makes the perfect gift! Chai can be blended with a variety of different spices and teas. I chose ones that are familiar to me and that offer some health benefits along with being tasty. *Click on the name of each ingredient to view where you could purchase it. Darjeeling tea – Contains polyphenols which are powerful antioxidants that can help prevent illness by fighting free radicals. It provides protection to the teeth from bacteria and can also protect the stomach from gastric ulcers. The tea leaves contain a substance called L-thenine which help the body relax and relieves stress. It does contain caffeine so keep that in mind and opt for a Rooibos which is naturally decaffeinated if desired. Ginger – A wonderful carminative herb that helps with digestion and is both warming and soothing to the body. Cloves – A mild analgesic and very calming to the nervous system. Promotes relaxation and pain relief by reducing inflammation. They can also help relieve upper respiratory tract infections and reduce phlegm. It’s said to be an aphrodisiac. Cardamom – Helps combat depression which get worse for some this time of year. It aids digestion which can also be more sluggish with holiday food! It also helps with detoxification, is great for fighting pathogens and is also considered an aphrodisiac. Vanilla Beans – Add incredible flavor, are also considered an aphrodisiac and help reduce anxiety. They are also chock full of antioxidants. Popcorn – This recipe will make about 3 cups from your best popcorn popper and 7 cups of the chai tea blend. Nutmeg – Warming, aromatic, stimulating to the brain and nervous system. It may help ease anxiety, depression, fatigue and stress. It helps reduce inflammation and is wonderful for the skin, liver and kidneys. Cinnamon Chips – Also warm, aromatic and stimulating. It helps fight infection, reduce cholesterol, can help with menstrual pain and inflammation. It’s an amazing spice that is wonderfully versatile and definitely underestimated! |
