New E-Book: From Scratch

I had the privilege of purchasing From Scratch by Shaye Elliott of The Elliott Homestead a few months ago when it first came out. I wanted a hard copy so I ordered it from Amazon. It’s a gorgeous book full of traditionally prepared whole-food dishes (as it’s tagline says) with photography from both Shaye and her husband Stuart. 

From Scratch takes you to the Elliott homestead and gives you a beautiful, visual glimpse of what life on a homestead is like. Shaye welcomes you into her kitchen where she shares her family’s most beloved recipes. From breakfast all the way through dessert and even fermenting how-to’s, you’ll be able to navigate through real food cooking and add many incredible new recipes to your repertoire.

Some of my favorite recipes in the book include these Sweet Carrot Muffins. They are grain-free and made with almond flour. So delicious and perfect for a picnic!

I also really love these Easy Snack Bars. Another grain-free recipe that’s great for lunchboxes or a quick meal on the run!


It’s almost soup season and this Chicken Tortilla soup is both easy and nutritious! 


Traditional cooking is the backbone of a real food diet. If you know how to cook simple, delicious, nutrient dense meals you will feel like you’ve got this real food thing down pat! If you are stuck in a rut and need some inspiration, From Scratch is definitely the cookbook for you. You need to learn how to get away from processed foods and prepare as much of your food from scratch as possible.
