The Solution to Worry Less as a Mother
An Encouraging Word for Mother’s Day Week from My Home to Yours.
Life is about solutions.
When you are faced with difficult decisions or circumstances as a mother or as a human being, the easy thing to do is get bogged down with the weight of it all. Some spend time way into the night reading articles on the internet that cause them to worry or become fearful. Some lie awake at night lamenting a to-do list that was neglected. Others become depressed and cannot see the light at the end of an endless, dark tunnel.
Fear and worry are the enemies. They steal your joy and make you feel worthless and powerless.
Worry is the antithesis of joy.
This is not how we were meant to live. A favorite passage of mine is, “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” Luke 12:22-26
What is the solution to making it through difficulty?
WHEN LIFE IS HARD, PRAY.
God will help you weed through the worry to find the root cause, just like we do in the holistic health field when we are looking for the root cause of a symptom.
WHEN LIFE IF FEARFUL, PRAY.
God wants to be the space between you and fear. He can be the comfort that calms your anxieties and bring peace. He knows the outcome and is there to lead you through.
WHEN LIFE BRINGS YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN HANDLE, PRAY.
God promised to never give you more than you can handle. To the mother that has lost a child, or for the one with terminal cancer, these words can seem like lies. No one is promised tomorrow. No one is promised an easy life. Life is hard, but God is good. All. The. Time. He is there. His arms are open. Will you let Him in? All you have to do is ask.
Happy Mother’s Day!
